Early professionalism

February 4, 2010

In the first year of the JMC “Factory Team” each rider was given a dialed in number plate. No word on who actually made the plates for the riders yet, but they were sweet. *This in from Jim Melton. The plates were made by his son. His son also had helped with the original JMC logo and also painted the team riders bikes with their names etc.

The example is of Adam Cox’s plate. Each rider as you can see had their name on the top of the plate. Legends Harry Leary and Clint Miller also had one of these plates on their bikes in 1977. You can see Clint’s in the photo at the bottom of this post.

Clint is shown all Factory looking from head to toe way back in 1977 at the JMC IBMX Summer Nationals in Colorado.
